10 Chairs I Try to Pin Over and Over Again

Over on Pinterest, I have a Board called Chair Obsession. More people than you might imagine have a secret little chair addiction. I’m not exactly sure why, other than what I know about my own chair obsession. When a few chairs are all lined up in my shop, they exude very distinct personalities. Unless you’ve observed this yourself, you may think that’s utterly nuts. Some are short and squatty, others are linear and graceful. Little parlor chairs sit up like prim and proper ladies, while big old low slung modern chairs have a relaxed, sturdy, unflappable vibe. It’s uncanny really. This collection is rather random, but you know when they keep grabbing your attention, then you’re in love.

Above, Ralph Lauren can nail it when he tries. This simple little spindly legged side chair on wheels is irresistible. The vintage Jenny Lind inspired wood turning, jewel toned velvet and ticking pillow make this chair a workhorse for any space. RalphLaurenHome.com

These two graceful blue velvet wingbacks need no text. When things come in pairs, they make a much bigger impact. Try to purchase two, if available. (Skull artwork adds a little extra oomph!)

A few years back when I started this Pinterest Board, I was adamant about keeping everything I pinned quite modern. As time’s gone on, I’ve come to appreciate all kinds of chair frames, different fabrics, materials, shapes and finishes. (Quite like life, don’t you think?)

I can’t go too far without throwing in one of my personal favorites. First of all, this chair looks very comfortable-a key indicator of whether it can go the distance. Secondly–leather, chrome, low slung frame, tufted cushions–What’s not to love?! I’ll take it. Karl Thut Chair for Stendig, 1970’s.

The Raptor, by Urban Upholstery in London is still one of my all time favorites. It’s the dressmaker details that make this 100% wool side chair a work of art, yet still functional.

A sculptural beauty is this burnt orange side chair. Designed by ChristopherGuy.com, even if nobody ever sat in this chair, it’s unusual enough to keep around.

Come on!! How often do you come across a chair like this? A piece of upholstered art! From 1st Dibs.com

It’s the classic wingback, only not so frumpy. The Moroccan cut gray velvet and orange pillow show that the wingback still has potential.

I love this photo from SarahKaye.com’s board.  The moody gray room steps back and lets this fabulous modern orange chair stand out. The three ottomans might be overkill, but it’s a styled photo, not real life. Photograph by Ingrid Rasmussen.

Speaking of funky wingback chairs, how about this traditionally upholstered dark gray eclectic piece of goodness? I can’t decide if I’d get tired of looking at all the pieces of it, but it looks comfortable, and that matters. ModHomeEcPinterestRemodelistaBDDW

Here again, the styling can make or break the impression you get of furniture, but this is one of my all time favorites. Simple, color harmony, organic, double, and unexpected vintage bras wall sculpture.
